
Nikhil Sachdev is a Managing Director at Insight Partners, where he partners with bold founders building category-defining technology companies from Series A through pre-IPO. He has backed more than 30 companies across the software, AI, and Internet sectors - with seven IPO exits. Over his career, he has served on more than 18 portfolio company boards, and his investments include Unity (U), GitLab (GTLB), Airbnb (ABNB), Bytedance, GCash, CRED, Planetscale, Mural, Thunes, Viz.ai, Tetrascience, Uizard (acquired by Miro), and others. Nikhil helps lead Insight’s Silicon Valley presence, while investing with a global lens partnering with companies in the Valley and across the US, Asia, and Europe.
After graduating from Stanford, Nikhil began his career as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, advising technology companies in the cloud, mobile, and semiconductor sectors on M&A and financing. He then joined Bain Capital's private equity group, where he applied an operational approach to buyout investing. While pursuing his MBA at Harvard Business School, Nikhil worked closely with the founder of a Sequoia-backed startup (Kunal Shah – now CEO/Founder of CRED, one of Nikhil’s portfolio companies), which furthered his passion for technology & venture investing. Prior to joining Insight in 2020, Nikhil was a Partner at Altimeter Capital, a public & private technology-focused investment firm, where he scaled the firm's venture practice and led growth stage private investments in software and Internet.
Based in San Francisco, Nikhil enjoys running in Golden Gate Park, trying to improve his tennis game (his serve needs work...), grilling with friends and family, and traveling with his wife.
