John Weinstein

John is a Managing Director and our Co-General Counsel.  He focuses on supporting our fund strategies and portfolio investments, as well as the day-to-day operations of our firm.  John sits on several of our portfolio company boards, serves as a trusted advisor to our investment committee, and is recognized as a leader who exemplifies Insight’s core cultural values.  John is constantly looking for new and different ways to help our dynamic business grow, adapt, and improve.  We turn to him and his creative and practical style when navigating our most pressing, complex challenges.

Before Insight, John was in-house counsel at Two Sigma, overseeing their private investment strategies, including private equity, venture capital, and impact investing.  Prior to that, John was a corporate lawyer at Davis Polk, where he advised clients on a broad range of matters, including M&A, minority and venture investments, fund and co-investment structuring, management arrangements, governance, and regulatory matters.

John is a CFA Charterholder, holds a B.A. from Syracuse University, where he studied Economics and Finance, and earned a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.  He is proud to sit on the Junior Council Steering Committee of the American Museum of Natural History, which supports the Museum’s mission to broaden public understanding of science and the natural world.

John lives in New York City with his wife and kids.  In his free time, he enjoys reading, running, traveling, and overanalyzing his Oura ring data.
