As Chief Information Officer of Cummins, Inc., a $30 billion global power leader that designs, manufactures, sells, and serves diesel and alternative fuel engines, Earl Newsome provides strategic leadership, drives key IT projects, and executes on overall business strategies. At Cummins, he has led a rejuvenation of the IT strategy with a program called renovate/renovate+ – leading the organization on a program to improve Agility, Resiliency, Capability on top of a world class foundation resulting in millions of dollars of savings, improvements in outcome delivery and customer satisfaction.  

A multifaceted technology executive, Earl’s 25+ years of global IT leadership experience is an asset to boards seeking to drive business efficiencies through digital transformation.  

Earl served as a Captain in the U.S. Army and earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Beacon (Nasdaq: BECN), Navisite, First Independence Corporation, and First Independent Bank, Detroit. He also serves on the West Point Association of Graduates’ Board of Directors and the Board of Visitors for Sacred Heart University’s Jack Welch  College of Business and Technology.  

Earl’s speaking credits include CIO Forum, Gartner Symposium, Harvard Business School, and numerous webinars. He is also a regular contributor for IT and business publications. In 2019, he was the recipient of the New York CIO of the Year ORBIE Award l Super Global from the New York CIO Leadership Association. Black Enterprise and Savoy magazines have also recognized him as among the world’s most influential and transformative business leaders.
