Insight Partners is an awesome firm that shares many of our values, and we’ve been grateful to have them as partners on this journey of building a great company based on a great product.
nCino, headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina, is the worldwide leader in cloud banking. Leveraging its industry-leading loan origination software, nCino serves financial institutions globally, driving efficiency and innovation in the banking sector. The company’s cloud-based platform is known for its product leadership, high value to financial institutions, and ability to address a large total addressable market (TAM). Since its founding, nCino has continuously focused on expanding operations, moving upmarket, and delivering cutting-edge solutions to banks worldwide.
Scaling for Growth and Global Expansion
In 2015, Insight led a $29M Series B round to enable nCino to capitalize on the shift to cloud in the loan origination software market. The funding supported nCino’s domestic expansion, entry into international markets, and movement upmarket from community and regional banks to larger financial institutions. With a strategic focus on product development and customer success, nCino built the foundation for its growth into a global leader.
Pivotal Investment for IPO Success
In 2017, Insight doubled down on its partnership with nCino, acquiring a majority stake in the business. By providing liquidity to prior investors, Insight helped nCino create a clean cap table and align its management team and remaining shareholders around a unified growth strategy. This pivotal ScaleUp milestone laid the groundwork for nCino’s successful IPO in 2020, achieving a valuation of $3B and setting the benchmark for the highest-priced forward revenue multiple for a vertical SaaS company at IPO (NASDAQ: NCNO).
Driving Exponential Growth with Insight Onsite
Through Insight Onsite’s SaaS metrics and growth-stage playbook, nCino achieved 150% annual revenue growth over three years. Onsite’s Talent team collaborated with nCino to develop an assessment and hiring methodology that built robust sales capacity. Meanwhile, Insight’s IGNITE program accelerated enterprise sales through customer introductions and strategic guidance, enabling nCino to strengthen its foothold in the market.
"When we looked at the financing landscape, Insight’s strong SaaS experience coupled with their productive and thought-provoking counsel stood out. Through deep portfolio experience, industry knowledge, and unique programs like Onsite, Insight provides value beyond just capital.”*
