Identifying Opportunity & Building Foundation
Emmet B. Keeffe III, the founder of Insight IGNITE, recognized Laminar's potential amidst the digital shift caused by the emergence of COVID-19 in 2020. As companies hurriedly transitioned to the cloud, Laminar aimed to democratize data and empower data security teams. The timing was opportune. Keefe saw in Laminar's founders the expertise and vision required to address these challenges. They needed support to refine their product architecture and market strategy.
Leveraging Advisor Networks & Accelerating Growth
Partnering with IGNITE in October 2020, Laminar's founders engaged with a select group of enterprise executives to refine their product, strategy, and buyer identification. Through numerous meetings and workshops, they leveraged IGNITE's network for feedback and brand exposure. This approach helped them avoid common pitfalls, adapt their technology, pitch, and market strategy. Consequently, Laminar emerged from stealth in late 2021 with a $37M Series A, gaining valuable insights from early testers and positioning itself as a category leader.
From Stealth to Successful Exit
With the momentum from their accelerated growth, Laminar doubled its funding within six months of the initial Series A. By early 2023, potential buyers, including Rubrik, approached Laminar, highlighting the market's interest in data security posture management. Seeking guidance from IGNITE, the founders evaluated potential acquirers. Rubrik, aligning with Laminar's vision, emerged as the ideal choice. The partnership with IGNITE allowed Laminar to accelerate its messaging, product strategy, and market opportunities, ultimately leading to a successful exit.
